I love visiting my Grammy in Michigan. We only see her every two years since it takes a few long days to drive there. When we drive, I think about the clay projects we will make together and how much fun we will have when we get there.

When we arrive at Grammy’s, she always asks me what apples I have plucked. You see, Grammy and I have a special activity that we do together. When we think of special ideas, like inventions, Grammy always says “we’re plucking apples from our thinking trees.” My Grammy is always plucking away with great ideas. She plucks apples with her art work, always creating something beautiful.

Where was I…oh, plucking apples. Well, Grammy is getting older now, so I have plucked some special apples just for her. My first apple, a very juicy apple, is to put windshield wipers on the windows of Grammy’s house so that she doesn’t have to go outside to clean them.

Next is my sweet apple, a wristband with a telescoping reacher in it. This would help her when she drops things or when she needs to reach for thiings in high cupboards.

Well, since Grammy is getting older, she can’t walk very well anymore. She’s having troubles carrying groceries from the car to her house. My next apple, a golden apple, is a hanger system that carries bags from the car and into her house.

Michigan gets a lot of snow, and Grammy has a hadr time shoveling it. So my next apple, a baked apple, is to build heating coils under the driveway that will melt the snow.

Finally, my favorite apple, I call my shiny apple, is magnets under the roads and cars to help the cars move. This would save money on gas and help the environment. I think this would help Grammy and a lot of other people.

I can’t wait to see Grammy again so I can tell her the apple plucking that I have for her. Someday I want to be just like Grammy!
