Artists Workshop 26th annual art show
The Artists’ Workshop celebrates with its 26th annual art show and sale, from August 24 through September 1. The exhibit, of over 200 original works of art by 24 artists, will be in the handicap accessible, upstairs, Grand Ballroom of the historic U.S. Hotel at Third and California streets in Jacksonville. Exhibit hours are 10 to 6 daily. A reception for the public will be held on Saturday, August 28, between 2 and 4 pm.
Beautiful works of art by the most accomplished artists in the State of Jefferson will be on display at the exhibit. “Historic sites, charming city scenes and natural wonders of the Rogue Valley have been captured on canvas and paper by the members of the Artists’ Workshop for their exhibits,” says Steve Bennett, this year’s show director. The artists include Dolores Ribal, Anne Brooke, Sue Bennett, Peter Coons, Bruce Barnes, Steve Bennett, Marjory Foster, Virginia Govedare, Elaine Witteveen , Marilyn Hurst, Anne Schurman, Betty Barss, Kim Faucher, Gary Foll, Mae Heideman, Ken Deveney, Lynda Haghan, Doris Kerwin, Gwen Kirk, Christina Madden, Pauline Mainwaring and Carolyn Roberts, Anne Hinds and Wynn Pedersen.
The Workshop was founded over 25 years ago by Elaine Witteveen to encourage local artists to improve their techniques and capture the beauty of the Rogue Valley. Members of the Artists’ Workshop paint outdoors as weather permits. The group moves indoors to paint live models in poor weather. Interested artists are encouraged to join and may call 482-5837 to inquire about where and when the group is painting.?
