BILL MOYERS JOURNAL: Final Episode

BILL MOYERS JOURNAL: Final EpisodeLast fall Bill Moyers — one of public television’s icons for more than 30 years — announced his intention to retire from Bill Moyers Journal at the end of this month. Although the program itself will end, the very active website will continue. As we say goodbye, we feel that it is only appropriate to give Mr. Moyers himself the last word:

Dear Colleagues,

Apparently there is a rumor circulating that PBS has cancelled BILL MOYERS JOURNAL. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I am 75 years old and want to move on. That, and that alone, is the reason for my ending BILL MOYERS JOURNAL. We’re having a great run — always in the three most popular public affairs broadcasts on PBS with one of the most visited sites on PBS.org. Along with NPR, CNN, The Economist, and the New York Times, we are among the top sites on iTunes. Ten of the top 20 highest-ranked (by users) videos on the PBS channel on YouTube are from our site. And so on. None of this would have been possible without your collegial support, and I am grateful to all of you.
