STUDENT SHOWCASE: Justin Casebier
Farmer (Cascade Christian High School)
Raising Dairy Goats
Season 5, Episode 7

My name is Justin Casebier. I am 16 years old, and I raise dairy goats, cattle, and sheep. I currently have two dairy goats. My main milk producer is a whitish, copper-colored Nigerian dwarf/nubian cross. My other goat, Queenie, who is my favorite, more sociable goat, is a brown and black, pure-breed Nigerian Dwarf with rare blue eyes. To me personally, one of the hardest things to do when raising farm animals is that these animals do not work on the same sleep schedule as we humans do. Sometimes these animals (usually sheep) will decide to give birth in the middle of the night or have other problems. So, being a person who loves his sleep, I have a very difficult time waking up to go help these animals in the barn. But this somewhat sleepless work does have its rewards; I personally have won an award for raising a grand champion ram lamb and many other rewards for raising show cattle.

For my future, I am planning on using the money and the skills (like patience) that I have received from the raising and selling of my animals to pursue a career in the medical field as a Cardiologist.
