SOU’s Hannon Library invites the public to view the exhibit, “Into Copenhagen,” by local photographer, Allen Ross Hicks, during March and April. The Library will host a reception and gallery talk on March 4, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the 3d floor the Library Gallery.

“Into Copenhagen” is an eclectic selection of images from his on-going forty year connection to the city. He was inspired by Danish culture that he found rich in academic, career, and creative accomplishment, and so visually stunning, so aesthetically engaging compared to the vague suburban milieu of his East Oakland childhood. The exhibit does not seek to document or travelogue Copenhagen, but is an attempt to share a feeling, a particular resonance for a place, its color, light, texture, and people. It is an appreciation for the perspective Allen Hicks’s lifelong journey has provided.
