IN CONVERSATION with Jeff Golden
James Adams (Chairman, Vortx Corporation)
Southern Oregon has no shortage of worldly residents, but only one that can be called the leading international authority on terrorism and intelligence. Born in the United Kingdom, James Adams' first career was journalism. He was managing editor of the London Sunday Times and subsequently CEO of the United Press International. His fascination with matters of security and warfare fueled his work as a reporter and author. He has written thirteen books on warfare -- most recently, The Next World War. James Adams served for four years on the Advisory Board for the National Security Agency and is currently a board member for the U.S. Navy's Criminal Investigative Service. Since settling in Ashland, his focus has turned to enterprise, and he is the founder and chairman for Vortx, Inc., which deliver analysis and solutions on high technology issues for government and the private sector.
In this program, James discusses the importance of being informed in a world of secrets and national security, the Patriot Act as it relates to civil liberties, and pro-active versus reactive strategies for dealing with terrorism.
