Rolie Polie was a lonely bug. He lived in a tall sunflower plant that sat in the corner of the living room. Each day he liked to sit out on the big leaves and enjoy the sunshine. But, it wasn’t enough. He needed a friend.

One day, Rolie spotted another plant across the living room. It was a beautiful plant with big green leaves. He bet there could be another bug like him living there, but it was too far away to tell if another bug was looking back. So, he decided to go see for himself. With a deep breath he began climbing the side of the pot.

Suddenly the pot began to shake.

“Oh, no!” exclaimed Rolie. From overhead suddenly a flood of water poured into the pot. He scrambled up the side as the water level rose. Just as he reached the top water flowed over the side and so did Rolie.

Instantly he rolled up his body. He slammed to the wooden floor and floated along in the water right into a stack of colored blocks. Slowly he climbed up on the block.

Just then something picked the block up in the air. He held on tight.

“Ah!” he screamed, finding the block being raised towards a baby’s slobbery mouth. He let go and fell rolling to his back.

“Wow, that was close!” said Rolie.

Rolie slowly opened his eyes; just in time to see a huge orange cat’s paw swat him. Rolie rolled and tumbled across the floor, until he finally bumped into something.

“Climb up, quick,” squeaked a voice from above.

He turned to find himself at the bottom of the green plant. He climbed up as fast as he could. At the rim of the plant was a smiling bug just like him.

Rolie smiled real big.

“Hi, my name is Molly. What’s yours?”
