OREGON EXPERIENCE: Sagebrush Symphony

Monday, August 6 at 10:30 p.m.


In 1910 a classically trained violinist named Mary Dodge arrived in the remote southeastern Oregon town of Burns. She brought with her an intense love of music and children, and the determination to build an orchestra. The Harney County Sagebrush Symphony Orchestra gained statewide fame and helped lay the foundation for the Portland Youth Philharmonic — America’s first youth orchestra.
