Organ Recital
On Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 PM, Music at St. Mark’s will present Margaret R. Evans, organist, in recital on the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s Bond pipe organ, to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the installation of the organ. Works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Handel, and Sowerby will be included. The recital is free and a reception will follow. St. Mark’s Church is located at 5th and Oakdale in Medford.
St. Mark’s organ was installed in Feb. 1992, at the same time as the organ at First Presbyterian Church, Medford. It has nearly 1000 pipes played on 2 keyboards and pedalboard. It also has 19 ranks or sets of pipes. The St. Mark’s organ is one of two in the world with a case made of madrone, a wood indigenous to the west coast. The SOU Hinkle Recital Room has the other organ with a madrone case.
Dr. Margaret R. Evans has been Director of Music at St. Mark’s since September 1991. She taught at SOU for 27 years, leaving as Professor Emerita of Music.
