SOPTV Parents is an outreach effort to bring exceptional books, activities, and even professional parenting guides to our audience.

  • PBS Parenting Guides
    • The PBS Parenting Guides are a collection of professionally developed resources to help parents with a number of common concerns and problems.
  • Parents Activity Search
    • Our Parents Activity Search module below will help you find fun activities for your PBS Kid. You can pick activities from your child's favorite program, choose a specific type of activity, or even focus in on a specific skill for your child to work on.
  • Book Finder
    • Our Parents Book Finder module below will help you to find just the kind of book you're looking for. You can view the recommended books or choose from the PBS database of children's books based on a particular theme, your child's age, and even whether you want books for self-reading, or to be read aloud.
  • Struggling To Learn
    • Struggling To Learn is a special set of resources for parents of children with learning disabilities.

Parenting Counts

Part of our growing outreach to parents includes the Parenting Counts multimedia initiative developed by KCTS and Talaris Research Institute to help adults understand how children think, feel, and learn in the early years. Through on-air spots, workshops, and outreach materials, SOPTV will offer parents and childcare professionals an engaging and informative look into how babies' minds develop.

Ready To Learn

The Ready To Learn television service is a national effort to improve the school readiness of young children through the reach of public broadcasting. The core of Ready To Learn is a full day of non-violent, commercial-free, educational children's television programming that is broadcast free of charge to every American household. Debi Gutierrez hosts A PLACE OF OUR OWN--Weekdays, 12:30 p.m. on Channels 8 & 22 in southern Oregon and 8 a.m. on Charter Cable Channel 21, Jackson County.--and Alina Rosario hosts LOS NIÑOS EN SU CASA--Weekdays, 7:30 AM on Charter Cable Channel 21, Jackson County.
