National Parks Family Day

National Parks Family DayDiscover the natural wonders in Oregon and northern California. The National Parks Family Day takes place Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. at the ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum at 1500 East Main Street in Ashland, Oregon. Admission is free. There are plenty of kid’s activities, prizes, and wild animals. You and your family can even meet Clifford.

Join fellow national park enthusiasts for a day of fun and exciting activities promoting parks and the outdoors. You will also have several chances to preview select highlights from Ken Burns’ upcoming documentary series, THE NATIONAL PARKS: America’s Best Idea, set to premiere on SOPTV beginning September 27. Representatives from the National Parks Conservation Association, SOPTV, and the National Parks Service will discuss the film and national parks following the preview.

For a full day of hands-on fun and educational activities this event features:

  • Hands-on introduction to camping in our national parks, including gear, food, and fishing demonstrations
  • Giant Salmon Tent with kids activities
  • Safety in the woods, including primitive wilderness skills demonstrations
  • Wildlife from our national parks and beyond
  • Bird banding/watching
  • Fully costumed Clifford the Big Red Dog and Smokey Bear
