Class of 2014-15: Chloe Quinn
Artist & Theatre Set Designer (Roseburg High School)
Season 8, Episode 2
As an artist I have always been torn between two mediums of expression. My first love will always be fine arts, but throughout high school I have become more engaged in the theater. Designing sets was a perfect way to satisfy my desire to perform as well as create.
The moment I realized that I had a passion for set design took place during rehearsals for The Music Man, four years ago. A fellow cast member handed me a roller and a bucket of white paint combined with what I believed to be sand. As a tiny freshman, nobody knew who I was, and nobody really cared, but helping to create that set and seeing it come together made me realize that I was a part of something bigger than a chorus line.
Since then I have created various props for Roseburg’s annual children’s literacy play, as well as set pieces for Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, the classic musical Hello Dolly!, and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. My dream is to work with animation companies designing characters and creating concept art.
