Tie Days RiverFest ’11
Posted By event-manager On May 10, 2011 @ 9:56 am In Events | No Comments
The third annual Tie Days RiverFest is celebrating Father’s Day with music, rafting, BBQ and just old-fashioned family fun. This year’s Tie Days RiverFest will take place Saturday, June 18, starting at 10:00 a.m. River Concert Bracelet holders park in designated Shady Cove locations and board an old-fashioned trolley that heads north for various Rogue River musical/dining venues. This year’s headline performer is Joni Harms of Canby, Oregon. She is a true country/western songwriter/performer. She has been a guest of the Grand Ole Opry, performed on the stage of NYC’s Carnegie Hall, and many blue grass festivals and round-ups.
Tie Days started as a celebration in Shady Cove for fathers and their families, enjoying fly-fishing and fly-tying demos, hot dog BBQ, local musicians, and live chainsaw carving. Fathers have been receiving the dreaded, yet cherished, neckties for generations, so neckties were adopted as the “signature” of Tie Days for Shady Cove’s annual event. Neckties adorn the outside of many downtown merchants during the event. What started as a fun opportunity for families to treat their dads will become an occasion for everyone to enjoy a variety of music from several Oregon musicians. Floating from one musical river venue to another via a rented raft or a floating device of choice is the novelty thrown into the entertainment equation this year.
Tie Days RiverFest is a special and unique adventure for the entire family to enjoy river excitement, great food and musical fun together. Add to that the natural splendor of the Rogue River, not only being able to enjoy it from on-the-river venues, but actually experience the gentle rapids when rafting, observe the local wildlife and scenery; the total being a fantastic outdoor family experience at a reasonable price. Shady Cove merchants will be putting on their best “ties” to showcase their town and bring added attention to the town itself and the other events it sponsors.
Event Location: City-Wide but headlining concert, starting at 4:00, is at Shady Kate’s Boutique, 21584 Hwy 62, Shady Cove
